How your spiritual journey should affect those around you

Posted on .

How do people behave when they have found their spiritual path? How does it affect their environment that they have chosen a path that might not resonate with their closest family and friends?

What the books of wisdom say

If you have decided to make huge changes in your life because you have found your true calling in life, your spiritual path, you will most probably meet little understanding from those around you.

Do not be discouraged. Just remember it is up to you to be reasonable and responsible to keep the relationships healthy.

Under no circumstances should your obligations towards your family be neglected or your friends be ignored. Do not judge those around you for their behavior or preach at them.

To live in harmony with your family, friends, neighbors and colleagues you must use your knowledge and heart in an intelligent manner. Only then your intentions will sound sincere.

Never act in a fanatic manner. Always be broad minded and inclusive as you never know what you can learn from whom. This way you can prove to your surroundings that you are on the correct path.

My story and how I found “my way”

When I started my spiritual journey I found out that when I tried to impose my thoughts on others and say that my way is the “only” correct way, it only proved that I was far away from a true path. People found me unbearable and they wanted to avoid me.

Now when I inspire those around me to follow their true calling or path of light, I do so through gentleness, kindness and patience. I try to inspire by doing, rather than preaching. By guiding, rather than forcing. By listening, rather that speaking.

What is your experience with family and friends when you started your spiritual journey?
